The Law Offices of Michael F. Hupy & Associates, has continued our tradition of giving back to the community. In 1997, as in every one of the previous five years, our firm was a major sponsor of the WMCS Radio 1290 Scholarship Fund. Our 1997 contribution of $10,000.00 brought our five year total to $50,000.00.

The scholarship fund is designed to help students who might not otherwise be able to attend college because of limited financial means. The other major sponsors of the fund include the Dow Chemical Company. WMCS Radio Station owner Willie Davis, former Green Bay Packers great, is on the Board of Directors of Dow Chemical.

High school students from throughout the area competed for the grants provided by the fund. The scholarships were presented to the winners of that competition at the Eighth Annual Banquet, held on the evening of May 2, 1997, at the Hyatt Hotel.

The keynote speaker for the evening was Sean Jones, defensive end for the Superbowl Champion, Green Bay Packers. Mr. Jones stressed the importance of hard work and striving for your goals. His speech was extremely well received, and the audience gave him a standing ovation as he left the podium.

Attorney Jason F. Abraham of the Law Offices of Michael F. Hupy & Associates, and representatives of other corporate sponsors, made the scholarship presentations. The recipients will attend a variety of universities throughout the country; they will study a wide range of fields including medicine and law. Approximately five hundred people attended the banquet.
