If you have been through hip replacement surgery the recent recall news was likely upsetting.  With more questions than answers, and with the fear of implant failure at any time, the hip recalls have devastated many in Wisconsin and across the nation.

Thousands have undergone hip replacement surgery, only to suffer from intense pain and weakness in the hip area.  For some, these symptoms surface almost immediately.  For others, the pain and weakness do not occur until years after the initial replacement.  The only remedy is to replace the defective part, causing the patient to undergo another surgery and all the risks that go along with such an invasive procedure.

List of Recalled Hip Replacement Parts

The following list of defective hip implants is current as of December, 2010:

  • J&J Depuy- Johnson & Johnson recalled two hip replacement products: The ACR XL Acetabular System and the ASR Hip Resurfacing System.
  • Zimmer Durom Cup- The Durom Replacement Acetabular Components, or Zimmer Durom Cup, was recalled after hundreds had to undergo re-replacement surgery.
  • Stryker Hip Implant- Though they were warned numerous times by the FDA, Stryker continued to allow their implants to be used in hip replacements. The company produced two recalled parts: Trident PSL and Hemispherical Acetabular Cups.

Class Action Lawsuits

Class action law suits against these companies are being filed in Wisconsin and across the U.S. Hip replacement lawyers, such as the attorneys at Hupy & Abraham, know that the only way to ensure that these multi-million dollar corporations pay for their carelessness is to file a successful class action lawsuit.  These corporations, more concerned about their bottom line than your health, have made millions selling a defective product.

Though one voice may not make an impact, together we will be heard.
