  • Erratic Driver Causes Serious, Injurious Accident in Logan Square A multi-vehicle accident in Logan Square injured nine people; seven seriously. The early morning accident is being blamed on a driver who fled the scene of an accident and crashed into a parked car, a taxi and an SUV. Police have charged the driver with failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, failure to keep in a lane and negligent driving.
  • Illinois Roadside Signs Highlight Dangers of Distracted Driving When driving in Illinois after the New Year you may notice new roadside signs. The Roadside Memorial Act, signed into law earlier this year, allows family members of those killed during an accident with a distracted driver to purchase the memorials and place them near the road for two years. The placards will read, “Reckless Driving Costs Lives” and are meant to honor those killed by distracted drivers.
  • Fall Flood Run A Safe Success Though state officials in Minn. and Wis. were concerned about the Fall Flood Run motorcycle event their fears were ungrounded. Safety officials from both states launched a campaign to make both riders and driver aware of the event and of motorcycles in general. All five motorists were taken to area hospitals and treated for various, non-life threatening injuries.

  • Sentence Set in Motorcycle/Distracted Driver Trial A woman who hit and killed Anita Zaffke over 14 months ago has been sentenced to a part-time prison term. The driver, Lora Hunt, admitted to painting her nails when she ran into the rider at 50 mph. Zaffke was stopped at a red light in Lake Zurich, Ill when the accident occurred.
  • Hit and Run Accident in Madison, Wi Causes Multiple Injuries An illegal U-turn in Madison, Wis recently caused to a serious accident. The driver of a jeep hit a van when he made the turn and then fled the scene. All seven of the passengers of the van were injured, including six children. The children and the van’s driver are from Lansing, Oak Park and Lynwood, Ill.
