  • Child passenger safety- Safercar.gov works closely with the NHTSA to give you the most current information available on child passengers. Did you know that auto accidents are the leading cause of death for children under age three? The most important way to protect your child is to ensure that they are in the safest possible seat and that this seat is installed correctly.
  • Air bags- Though air bags save thousands of lives and prevent serious injuries you must ensure that you use them correctly. For example, children under age 13 must NOT be placed in the front seat with an active air bag. In the event of an auto accident the air bag can deploy and seriously injure the child. Safecar.gov reminds us that children under age 13 should always ride in the back seat.
  • Rollover prevention- Rollover accidents are a serious threat to nearly all motorists. However, there are ways you can prevent some rollover accidents. Please click here to read more about preventing a roll over.
  • Current news- Safercar.gov and the NHTSA often issue press releases. These articles are intended to keep you up to date on all things related to auto safety. An example of a current news story is: Wisconsin Becomes 25th State to Pass Texting Ban for All Drivers.
