Motorcyclist Matthew Legue, 22, received a citation from the Ogle County Sheriff's Department for his crash near Rockford. Legue was riding behind a Department of Transportation vehicle when he decided to attempt a pass. While passing the other vehicle, Legue lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. Legue was the only driver involved in the crash; the Department of Transportation vehicle was not struck.

Unfortunately, Legue was injured from the crash and subsequently hospitalized. Legue was transported from the accident scene near State Route 72 and Blackwood Road to SwedishAmerican Hospital for emergency treatment. While there is no official word on the extent of his injuries, it is presumed Legue suffered serious injuries from the crash.

Authorities have not commented on whether or not Legue was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Considering he only received a ticket for his actions, it is unlikely he was found to be under the influence. Legue was cited for speeding and driving without a motorcycle license endorsement. The police have also not commented on weather or road conditions.

The Gurnee motorcycle accident lawyers at Hupy & Abraham wish Matthew Legue a quick recovery and a safe experience next time he is on the road. We would also like to take a moment to remind riders to pay special attention to motorcycle safety rules during these months. As spring returns, it’s not uncommon to encounter patches of mud or lingering ice that make the roadway treacherous. Please exercise caution both by obeying posted speed limits and also gauging your speed to the weather and road conditions.
