September 11, 2001, our nation experienced one of the darkest days in its history. The world was forever changed by a series of coordinated terrorist attacks that took the lives of nearly 3,000 innocent people and left a permanent scar on the hearts of millions.

Each year, as we mark the anniversary -- especially that first, somber remembrance on September 11, 2001 -- we pause to reflect, to grieve and to honor. We remember the mothers, fathers, children, friends and colleagues who were taken from us too soon. We remember the stunned silence that followed the collapse of the Twin Towers. And, we remember the unity that brought our country together in the face of unimaginable loss.

But, we also remember the courage.

We remember the first responders -- firefighters, police officers, EMTs and countless others -- who ran toward danger as others fled. Many of them made the ultimate sacrifice trying to save lives. Their bravery remains one of the most powerful examples of selflessness and heroism our country has ever witnessed.

At Hupy and Abraham, we are humbled by the legacy of the heroes and victims of 9/11 -- a legacy rooted in courage, sacrifice and the pursuit of justice. As advocates for those who have been harmed by negligence or tragedy, we are reminded that standing up for others in times of need is both a responsibility and a privilege. Today, as we remember, we also renew our commitment to protect the rights of individuals and families, and to fight for justice in every form it takes. We will never forget.
