Slow Down, School’s Back in Town!

Tips for Sharing the Road Safely:

Watch for Pedestrians:

  • Always stop behind the white line at stop signs and traffic signals.
  • Never block crosswalks.
  • Stay alert for crossing guards and follow their hand signals and signs.

Use Caution Around School Buses:

  • When a bus’s red lights are flashing, you must stop at least 20 feet away—even if you’re in the opposite lane—unless the roadway is divided by a physical median.
  • Remain stopped until the lights turn off and the bus moves again.

Slow Down in School Zones:

  • Reduce your speed and stay extra alert.
  • Avoid distractions like texting, calls, or adjusting the radio.
  • Make full stops at stop signs and double-check for children before proceeding.
