Just five days after a reward was announced, an arrest has been made in the killing of Marquis Champion, 16 — an innocent bystander tragically shot after a man, previously asked to leave a home, returned with a gun and opened fire. The perpetrator is believed to be 37-year-old Martell Haire.
Marquis was the nephew of Alderman Mark Chambers, who expressed gratitude to Attorney Michael Hupy for his support.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done to help my family,” said Alderman Chambers. “I truly appreciate your continued support and dedication through your work with Crime Stoppers. Your commitment to helping families find justice and keeping our community safe means more than you know.”
Attorney Michael Hupy has donated $100,000 in rewards to help solve violent crimes across Milwaukee. The donation provides $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in each of four tragic, unsolved murder cases — a powerful response to Milwaukee’s rising homicide rate and its devastating toll on families and neighborhoods.
The four murder cases include:
• Marquis Champion, 16 – Perpetrator Arrested
• Sharon Price, 64 – A beloved mother and community leader with a long career in banking, remembered as a hardworking role model devoted to her family and friends.
• James Jordan, 39 – A devoted father and music lover fatally shot while walking home from work, just across from his bus stop.
• Shaun Dorsey, 16 – A talented athlete and cherished son who was standing near his home in 2020 when he was shot to death, another young life cut short far too soon.
Attorney Hupy, who also serves as President of Milwaukee Crime Stoppers, said his motivation is simple: to stop the violence and bring justice to families who have waited too long for answers.
“Too many lives are being lost, and it feels like every week another Milwaukee family is grieving a senseless murder,” said Attorney Hupy. “We can’t accept this as normal. Our city deserves better — and these victims and their families deserve justice. It’s time for this violence to stop.”
Under Hupy’s leadership, Milwaukee Crime Stoppers has been instrumental in generating anonymous tips that have led to arrests, fugitive recoveries, and justice for victims and their loved ones.
