Insurance company tried to deny our client's claim because it was winter

It was a cold winter day in Iowa and our client went to a local farm and supply store. While on the property, he slipped on a patch of black ice and fell to the ground. As a result of the slip and fall, he suffered bilateral fractured shoulders, which had to be manipulated.

The insurance company denied the claim, relying on the standby defense: "It's winter. People slip-and-fall on ice." Hupy and Abraham filed suit and efficiently turned the denied claim into an $87,500 settlement.
