Hupy and Abraham Celebrate Movember

The month of November is a special month for men of all ages. During this time of year, you will hear individuals often call this month Movember. Why might that be the case? Look no further than the Movember Foundation. This is an event held every November in order to raise awareness revolving around men's mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. This charity event was founded in 2003 by a group of individuals in Australia. Adam Garone, Travis Garone, Luke Slattery and Justin Coghlan gained inspiration to make a campaign about mens health and prostate cancer after seeing a friend's mother fundraising for breast cancer.

Since its incarnation, the Movember Foundation has hosted events worldwide and has accumulated well over $837 million in donations. The Movember Foundation hopes to reduce young adult deaths by increasing early cancer detection, effective treatments and diagnoses.

Men will often grow a mustache or take pictures with a mustache sticker to help raise awareness. Provided below is a more in-depth guide for the areas that the Movember Foundation engages in.

  • Mental health and suicide prevention: The Movember Foundation hopes to reduce suicide among men by 25% before 2030, through education, services, community, and advocacy for men.

  • Prostate cancer: With prostate cancer being one of the most common to be diagnosed among men, the Movember Foundation seeks to reduce this cancer by getting involved in a myriad of ways through research and community involvement.

  • Testicular cancer: Similar to prostate cancer, it is common among young adults to develop testicular cancer in their lifetime. The Movember Foundation aims to aid in diminishing those numbers by more than half before 2030.

Representing the Movember Foundation is something that both men and women can show support, by either growing a mustache or by taking a photo with a mustache sticker. For more information about the Movember Foundation, visit https://us.movember.com/?home.
