Bummed out because you can’t ride in the winter and looking to get your motorcycle fix during the offseason? There’s no better way than to kick back with a movie. There are many great motorcycle films featuring thrilling rides, gripping stories and crazy stunts to entertain you until you’re back on the road.
Here’s a list of four motorcycle-themed films to add to your watchlist, each offering a great way to experience motorcycle culture while you wait for riding season.
1. "Road to Paloma" (2014)
Jason Momoa directs and stars in “Road to Paloma,” a gritty, emotional film that follows a man on the run after avenging his mother’s murder. As he rides through amazing landscapes on his motorcycle, the film shows the freedom of life on the open road. This is a lesser-known film that blends heart-pounding action with a dramatic plot and is sure to entertain motorcyclists and nonmotorcyclists alike.
2. "Torque" (2004)
Starring Ice Cube, Torque could be called “The Fast and the Furious” of the motorcycle world. For fans of high-octane action, this movie will definitely give you an adrenaline rush. Biker Cary Ford discovers shocking hidden cargo on a motorcycle, putting him on the run from the authorities, as well as a vicious gang. The film is packed with stunts, chases and a story of revenge. While it may be over the top, it offers plenty of thrills and fun for viewers who love fast-paced action.
3. "Freebird" (2008)
If you're looking for something a little more obscure, then you should check out the lesser-known British motorcycle film, “Freebird.” This film follows three friends on a motorcycle road trip through Wales. Part comedy, part action film and part drama, the film starts with three guys just trying to go on a simple ride and turns into a hilarious misadventure. With a plot involving gangsters and unexpected twists, this film combines the world of motorcycling with classic British humor.
4. "Biker Boyz” (2003)
Another early 2000’s film akin to “The Fast and The Furious” and “Torque,” “Biker Boyz” is about a group of underground motorcycle drag racers and stars Laurence Fishburne. The plot focuses on the rivalry between a legendary motorcyclist named Smoke and a young racer named Kid, who has formed his own motorcycle club with aspirations for a high-stakes race between the two. Filled with action-packed stunts, this is a can’t miss-film to watch during the motorcycle offseason, making you feel like you’re on the road yourself.
