watch for wildlife

Accidents between cars and big animals happen daily, especially around the fall when deer are more active. Hupy and Abraham wants to ensure you make it safely to your destination. Here are some safety tips to stay safe this fall season.

Fall is deer mating season, so they are more active and go near roads. While you are driving, remain cautious and aware of the surroundings. Areas that have a heavy deer population will have signs up to warn you.

Deer are predominately out during dawn and dusk. If you can, avoid driving at those times. If you are out during those times, use caution. While driving, double check your headlights are on. Your headlights will reflect their eyes and help you see the deer sooner.

If you see one deer, it is most likely a herd is nearby. Knowing that information, drive slowly. You never know when another one or multiple deer will pop out.

If you do see a deer in the road, stay calm. Deer hear before they see, so start honking your horn to scare them off. Do not swerve into the other lane as you could potentially crash into another car or cause a more serious crash.
