sturgis motorcycle rally safety

Motorcyclists from all over the country are heading out towards Sturgis, South Dakota, for the Sturgis Rally. It’s the biggest event of the riding season and one that everyone is looking forward to. Hupy and Abraham wants to ensure you and all other riders enjoy this event safely.

Here are some safety tips to keep in mind while at Sturgis.

  • Inspect your bike before you hit the road. Use the acronym T-CLOCS, which stands for tires, controls, lights, oil, chassis and stands.

  • Check the weather before you leave.

  • Plan stops along the way. Motorcyclists should stop and get off the bike at least once every two hours.

  • Keep a safe distance from other motorcyclists and drivers. This ensures your safety and theirs, as everyone remembers to share the road.

  • Avoid driving if you have consumed alcohol. Many fatalities at this rally are related to alcohol.
