Preparing for Winter

Winter is just around the corner and the snow and cold are coming with it. Hupy and Abraham wants to ensure you make it to your destinations safely this winter. Here are some tips to get yourself prepared for what’s to come.

Check your car before the winter weather arrives. This includes topping off the antifreeze, checking windshield wipers and headlights and changing your oil. With freezing temperatures, you never want your gas tank to get below half a tank. Also, with freezing temperatures, tire pressure goes down. You will want to fill your tires up before the cold comes and keep an eye on your pressure as winter moves further along.

Keep a snow brush in your car to clean it off completely after it snows. You should also include sandbags or bags of salt in your trunk to help with traction on snowy roads. You will also want to pack a blanket, first aid kit and snacks in case of emergency.

Drive only when necessary is the best way to stay safe this winter. Plan ahead and get all your groceries and necessities prior to snowstorms. If you must be on the road, take main roads versus back roads. Main roads are the first to get plowed and are safer for wintertime.
