National Insurance Awareness Day is June 28. It exists to remind us that sometimes in life, things go wrong and that it’s always a good idea toinsurance awareness have a backup plan. In the event of an accident, an insurance company will likely be the one who will pay for your injuries. But over the years, our experienced attorneys have seen many people involved in accidents who didn’t have the right amount of insurance to protect them.

At Hupy and Abraham, we deal with insurance companies on a daily basis to ensure that our clients receive the compensation they deserve when they have been injured in an accident. This sometimes means a long battle with the client’s or the at-fault party’s insurance provider.

In honor of Insurance Awareness Day, Hupy and Abraham would like to remind you of the importance of being aware of your insurance company’s coverage and policies, and how they can help or harm you in the event of a claim.

After an accident it is advised that you speak with an attorney before speaking with your insurance company. If you are injured in an accident, a claims adjuster will usually contact you immediately, so before they do keep these three things in mind:

  1. Insurance companies profit by paying out as little as possible in claims.
  2. Insurance companies’ initial offers are rarely their best offers.
  3. Insurance companies are under no obligation to inform you about your rights.
