Hupy and Abraham was a sponsor of “Celebrate Malaika,” the annual fundraising event for Malaika Early Learning Center. Established in 2003, Malaika Early Learning Center provides a nurturing and educational environment for children to help end the cycle of poverty. Hupy and Abraham employees attended the gala as firm representatives.

The event took place at the Milwaukee Art Museum on November 4 to raise funds to support future construction projects for the school. Silent auction tables were displayed around the event, with all proceeds directly going to Malaika. Tamara Johnson, Malaika’s executive director acted as the program’s master of ceremonies and introduced a children’s performance of  “I’m A Little Teapot.” The song was chosen based on the event’s teapot centerpieces that attendees could purchase.

Annually, Malaika serves around 100 children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Malaika promotes the early investment in children and developing important life skills at an early age, and society can benefit from lower criminal arrest rates, higher school graduation rates, lower dependence on poverty/welfare programs and many other benefits.

Hupy and Abraham Marketing Director Jill Wellskopf is currently a member of Malaika’s Board of Directors.  In 2015, the firm supported Malaika’s expansion “Great by 8” project.
