Our client was shopping at a store in Galena, Illinois. As she entered the store, a metal strip attached to a step was sticking up because it was bent, uneven and not properly secured to the step. When our client entered the business, her foot caught the metal and she fell forward injuring her face, knees and left shoulder.
The insurance company denied liability and claimed our client should have kept a proper lookout. Attorney David Metnick filed a lawsuit. After a lawsuit was filed, the insurance company said they would take another look at the claim. The case eventually settled for more than $100,000 without having to take any depositions.
