Thank you for your past support of My Home, Your Home Inc. It's people like you who make a real difference to our organization and the services we provide to the community. We maintain our mission of helping youth, adults and families, "Bringing families hope, one individual at a time" through our four core programs.
Our 2013 fundraising efforts for Lissy's Place have been successful. Our "Heart in a Handbag" luncheon more than doubled in net income, we added a new wine tasting event that raised money and exposed us to over a hundred new individuals and the "2nd Annual Art Show" was a part of "Gallery Night" this year, also reaching a new audience at the Hyde House. We are looking forward to an exciting 2014 with a luncheon that has a goal of raising $50K in April, the second Wine Tasting in July and the rolling out of a new two year partnership with a powerful local organization called Professional Dimensions.
Although the future of government funding feels somewhat uncertain at times, we're working hard to create income for Lissy's Place that reaches beyond the public sector. The work that is being done at Lissy's Place is extremely important and must be sustained. Take Shantel's story for example... Shantel had a very difficult upbringing and was a victim of sexual abuse from age 9-12 by a cousin. Her teenage years were rough as she was addicted to drugs on and off and had two children. By the time Shantel was 21, she lost custody of her children. Now, Shantel has been working very hard to stay drug free and rebuild herself to make a life that includes her children and family. The programs at Lissy's Place have been instrumental in helping her to build her self-esteem, find value in herself and the strength to move forward in her life. Shantel graduated from Lissy's Place in 2013. She has taken ownership of her life. Shantel's future is now very hopeful.
