On August 6, 2012, Hupy and Abraham S.C.'s client was traveling westbound on North Avenue, making a left turn to head southbound on Calhoun Road in Brookfield, Wisconsin. He was in a line of vehicles proceeding through the intersection on a green arrow. As the light turned yellow and then red, he cautiously tried to complete his turn and clear the intersection.
The negligent driver was traveling eastbound on North Avenue and entered the intersection on a green light. But according to multiple witnesses and investigating law enforcement officials, he was traveling 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Initially, our client hired another well-known local personal injury law firm, but they dropped his case when the defendant driver's insurance blamed him for the accident and denied the claim. Hupy and Abraham, S.C. then took over and Attorney Timothy Schelwat filed suit and obtained $90,000 for the previously denied claim.
