Midwest Motorcycle Riders gather for Hupy and Abraham sponsored bike show

Even though it’s not riding season in the Midwest, there are still a few motorcycle events happening that you don’t want to miss. From indoor racing to bike shows, there’s something for everyone who rides or just enjoys being part of the motorcycle community. Here are some of the most popular events in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa that you should check out.

ABATE of Wisconsin Lobby Day (February 17) – ABATE of Wisconsin is a group that fights for biker rights and helps motorcyclist’s voices be heard. Their annual lobby day event will take place at the Wisconsin State Capitol where riders from across the state and beyond come to talk to legislators about issues and laws that affect motorcyclists. Buses from all around the state, supported by Hupy and Abraham, give free rides to the capitol for anyone who needs one. Everyone is welcome to join. You can learn more at abatewis.org or check out videos from past lobby days from our Behind the Handlebars video series.

Mama Tried Motorcycle Show (March 5 and 6) – This motorcycle show takes place in Milwaukee, WI at The Rave/Eagles Club. Featuring custom motorcycles and builders from across the world, you’ll find Harleys, Yamahas, scooters and everything in between. There are also several after parties taking place at venues across the city. Mama Tried features the Flat Out Friday indoor motorcycle races at Fiserv Forum the day before the show. Riders from all around the globe compete in indoor flat track racing on a track coated with Dr. Pepper syrup.

World of Wheels Chicago (March 11 through 13) – Part car show and part custom bike show, this event is great for all ages. World of Wheels takes place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, where tens of thousands of people gather to see the latest in custom motorcycles, hot rods and more. This show is so big that you may need a couple days to see it all!

North Iowa Motorcycle Expo (April 2 and 3) – This event takes place in Mason City, IA and features a bike show, new and used cycle parts, leather and jewelry vendors and more. Riders can enter contests all weekend including a tattoo contest to show off their ink. Admission is only $8 for both days and children under 12 get in free, making this a great event for the entire family.
