College House Party Injury

Our client was a college student who, while attending a house party being thrown by an acquaintance of sorts, was struck by the adult host who was finding amusement in using a children’s snow sled to go down the stairs to the basement.

The client suffered a severely broken leg and incurred thousands of dollars in medical expenses, but ultimately made a good recovery. The homeowners’ insurance company initially tried to lowball the client, blaming him for not keeping an appropriate lookout and getting out of the way of the sled.

Following discovery depositions of the plaintiff and defendant, the case was settled by Attorney Timothy Schelwat at mediation for $145,000.00.
