Do not give statements to insurance companies following an accident.
They may ask you how fast were you going? Your general practice may be to go five miles over the posted speed limit. Without really knowing how fast you were going, you might say you were going five miles over the posted limit. The problem with making that kind of statement, following an accident, is that it will be used against you to reduce what they pay you.
You are under no obligation to take phone calls from an insurance company, unless it’s your own. To help your case, make sure you get all the pertinent information at the scene of an accident.
