You may have seen videos of your family and friends dumping buckets of ice water over their heads recently. This new phenomenon called the “Ice Bucket Challenge” has been sweeping the nation as a fun way to promote awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a motor neurone disease.

People can either choose to donate to an ALS-affiliated charity or dump a bucket of ice water over their heads. Most recently, people have been choosing to do both options. After completing the challenge, one can nominate their friends and family to participate, which perpetuates the giving cycle.

The managing partner of Hupy and Abraham, Jason Abraham, received several nominations and accepted his challenge with the Brookfield Academy girl’s volleyball team. However, instead of naming more people to do the challenge, Attorney Abraham made the decision to give a donation of $1500 in honor of the firm’s 150 employees.  Giving back to the community is an important part of Hupy and Abraham’s mission — the firm has given over $500,000 to more than 100 worthwhile charities in the past 3 years.
