Wisconsin Move Over Law Protects First Responders

This month the Wisconsin Department of Transportation highlighted the "Move Over Law."  WisDot featured the law to ensure that drivers and bikers know that they can and will be fined if they fail to move over or slow down when emergency crews, tow trucks or roadside workers are present.

We are glad that this issue is being highlighted in the state.  Though the law was created to protect first responders and other roadside workers, it also brings awareness to slowing down and moving over when anyone is stopped on the side of the road.

Almost everyone has needed to stop by the side of the road, and we all know what a frightening experience this can be.  A disabled motorcycle or flat tire on a car can land you on the shoulder of the road.  All it takes is one distracted driver to swerve onto the shoulder and crash into you and your car.

The staff and attorneys at Hupy & Abraham hope that the "Move Over Law" will remind all drivers and bikers to give their fellow motorists room as they deal with a broken down car or bike.

If you have been injured in a car, truck or motorcycle accident, please contact your Milwaukee personal injury attorney at Hupy & Abraham today for your free consultation.
