You couldn’t have predicted the motorcycle crash on I-74, I-80, or another Quad Cities road that hurt you so badly. You had no way of knowing that a car would change lanes without looking, make a left turn without seeing you, or otherwise cause an accident that left you so badly injured. However, there are things that you can predict about the future if you have the right information now.
Three Predictions You Should Make
It can be hard to see beyond the pain that you are currently feeling. Yet it is important to consider the future and think about your future:
- Physical recovery. How long are you likely to be in pain? How long will your injuries affect your activities or your work?
- Emotional recovery. How long will the emotional scars of your motorcycle accident keep you from doing the things that you enjoy?
- Financial recovery. How will your medical bills, lost income, and other expenses impact your finances?
Your doctors and lawyer can help you foresee what your future might be like given your specific injuries.
Why This Is Important
At some point you are going to have to settle your case or go to trial. You may not have the luxury of waiting until all of your injuries have healed and all of your damages are known. Instead, you are going to have to settle your case for future damages based on reasonable predictions about the future.
