Slip, trip, and fall accidents are a leading cause of injury in the United States for people of all ages and of both genders. Accordingly, as we observe National Safety Month this June it is important to consider the risk and for each of us to do our part here in Cedar Rapids to avoid future accident injuries.
The Second Week of National Safety Week Is Dedicated to Fall Prevention
This year the National Safety Council has dedicated the second week of June to slip or trip and fall prevention. If you would like to help prevent serious injuries or fatalities in your Des Moines community then you can:
- Report any dangers. Whether you see a slip hazard at a Fareway, poor lighting at a Des Moines apartment complex, or uneven pavement in front of a Pleasant Hill, restaurant you should report the danger to the property manager. In the best-case scenario, the property manager will make sure the problem is fixed quickly. In any case, it will put the property manager on notice of the danger.
- Raise awareness of fall injury risks. You can do this by posting on social media with the hashtag #NSM14, downloading free poster s, and printing free home checklists.
You can also help anyone who has been hurt.
