Posted on Feb 11, 2011

A serious accident involving a pregnant woman trapped lead to a second accident.  The woman crashed and was trapped in her truck along I-43 in Manitowoc County.   There was no information available as to the condition of the woman.

The serious auto accident caused police to shut down southbound lanes.  According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, after the woman had been transported to the hospital a state trooper was stuck as he was directing traffic.

The trooper, 51-year-old Gary Markowski, was seriously injured on Interstate 43 just north of the Sheboygan County line.  According to reports, a Newton woman slid out of control as she approached the accident scene, hitting and seriously injuring the trooper.  While the woman and her two child passengers were not injured during the crash the trooper was taken to St. Nicholas Hospital.  He was later transferred to St. Vincent's in Green Bay.

Manitowoc police are currently investigating the accident.  At the time of this report no charges had been filed.  The injured officer is currently recovering from his non-life-threatening injuries.

The staff and attorneys at the Milwaukee personal injury law firm of Hupy & Abraham, hope that the injured officer is well on his way to making a full recovery.
