We Continue to Find Ways to Support the MRF

Posted on Feb 19, 2010

Continuing his promise to support the motorcycle rights community, on February 18, 2010, Attorney Michael F. Hupy sent a letter to the Motorcycle Riders Foundation A&E Chair, Deborah Butitta. Along with the letter, Hupy enclosed a copy of the NRA Planned Giving Guide. The NRA, which Hupy is a longtime member of, is a leader in innovative ways to support its organization.

Attorney Hupy noted in his letter to Butitta, "The Guide gives specific ways that NRA members can give tax deductible support to the organization and how the NRA can be included in an Estate Plan including specific language."  He goes on to say, "As a member of the MRF and A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois I separately received two free $2,500.00 accidental death benefit policies for a total of $5,000.00. I have named the MRF as my beneficiary in both policies and suggest that we encourage other members to do the same."

Several years ago, the MRF presented its STEAM Conference in East Peoria, Illinois.  Attorney Hupy had dinner with the late Michael "Boz" Kerr and they discussed some of the challenges the MRF was facing regarding raising funds to provide education and other opportunities to members.  Hupy suggested the Planned Giving Program to BOZ, and although the MRF did not initiate that program, the MRF A&E program evolved from that suggestion.

Attorney Hupy urges other MRF members and A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois members who are financially  able to do so, to name the MRF A&E Fund or A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois as their beneficiary on the American Income Life Insurance Accidental Death Benefit policy available to all members of those groups.
