The collision with the milk tanker-truck happened Sunday around 3:50 p.m. on Highway 49. As described by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department, the 18-wheeler was riding east on County AS when the driver decided to take a left turn onto Highway 49. The semi-truck cut into the path of pickup traveling southbound on 49. The pickup was unable to stop and skidded under the trailer. The top of the pickup's cab was sheared off and the occupants, the driver and a child, had to be extricated using Jaws of Life equipment.

The pickup wedged under the tanker was visible from both sides of the trailer. A Flight for Life helicopter airlifted the victims to Milwaukee hospitals. Police closed the highway at Amity Road and traffic was detoured.

The attorneys of Hupy & Abraham sincerely hope that the victims will soon recover from their injuries. 18-Wheeler underrides are particularly frightening accidents, often resulting in fatal or critical injuries. In most cases of serious accidents with large or heavy trucks, the occupants of passenger cars are at a great disadvantage and very vulnerable. Over 85 percent of the victims of collisions between passenger cars and large trucks are the occupants of the car.
