The Diamond Posse, a veteran outreach corps of women riders, has partnered with NEADS and their Canines for Combat Veterans Program.
NEADS is a nonprofit program that trains service dogs for disabled veterans and others in need. Diamond Posse will officially launch their fundraising efforts to provide a veteran in need with a service dog on March 31st at Arizona Bike Week. The Diamond Posse will introduce this year's celebrity rider, Sturgis Hall of Fame member, Betsy "Gypsy" Lister. They will have a booth set up to meet, greet and spread awareness for their cause. These women have deep heart felt gratitude for veterans who have made it possible for them to celebrate their freedom due to the veteran's sacrifice.
In 2010 they rode every day of National Armed Forces Week to honor our veterans and hope to share with everyone their passion for riding and supporting those who have served the United States of America. The public is invited to stop by to say hello to these women, check out their bikes, and learn more about the Diamond Posse and NEADS.
The Diamond Posse website ( www.DiamondPosse.us) will be updated with events that the Diamond Posse members are attending and will allow you to watch the progression of this year's goal of $20,000. Meeting that goal will provide a dog to a veteran at no charge. You will be able to watch the dog's progress, help name the dog and provide encouragement to the trainer and veteran through the Diamond Posse Blog.
Women are invited to join the Diamond Posse as they ride from Milwaukee, WI, Park City, UT, Dallas, TX and Boston, MA headed for Gail's Harley-Davidson in Kansas City to join their 9-11 Tribute Rally. The women will arrive in 4 separate waves on Saturday, Sept 10th, with each group giving thanks for the privilege to ride free in America. Riders will be able to sign up via the DP website to join the mission as the Diamond Posse Crew.
