Attorney Hupy District One Member of the year, ABATE of Wisconsin

Departing ABATE of Wisconsin District One Director Rob DeDecker announced that Attorney Michael Hupy was the recipient of this year's District One Member of the Year Award. District One is comprised of 10 counties in southeast Wisconsin, including Milwaukee County.  The award recognizes an individual member of ABATE of Wisconsin who has greatly contributed to the success of the organization or has supported the organization above and beyond normal expectations.  Attorney Hupy has done all of that and more.

For the past three years, Hupy has sponsored busses to transport District One ABATE members to the annual ABATE Lobby Day.  Traditionally, there have been in excess of 500 grass roots lobbyists participating in ABATE's Lobby Day, partially due to Hupy's generosity in providing free transportation (he supplied three busses in 2009 to meet demands).

Besides sponsoring major events like Officer Training, the State Meeting and the 35th Anniversary Party, Hupy also supports many regional events throughout Wisconsin.  In addition, he included ABATE members in videos along with the sheriffs of Milwaukee and Dane Counties that he paid for. These were public awareness messages and he contributed paid for commercial time slots reserved for his firm in order to air these messages.

ABATE is deeply involved with right of way violation issues and Hupy and Abraham, S.C. has spent over a quarter of a million dollars in educating the public to Watch For Motorcycles. This message was carried on billboards, TV spots, bumper stickers and banners at various motorcycle events. There is no way of telling how many lives might have been saved by this message, but it was viewed by millions of people.

Attorney Hupy has also supported the land owned by ABATE known as ABATE Acres and he is promoting a fund raising effort to help pay off the purchase of that land where the state summer party is held each year. He also has supported ABATE's Share the Road educational series by financial contributions and will continue to support that important program. 

Everything Attorney Hupy has contributed to ABATE of Wisconsin is not listed here, but from the things mentioned above it's not hard to understand why he was selected as District One Member of the Year, 2010.  It was well deserved and he truly appreciates that honor.
