Hupy and Abraham, S.C. marked its continued support of the Milwaukee branch of the NAACP in its attendance at the association’s Annual Freedom Fund Dinner, which took place on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Hupy and Abraham was recognized for being a platinum sponsor of the event—one of only four platinum sponsors. More importantly, Hupy and Abraham, S.C. marked it’s commitment to preparing the youth of the NAACP community in their education by presenting an award of $10,000 to the association’s scholarship fund. This award is but one of many awards earmarked for scholarships—the firm has presented more than $150,000 to the association for that purpose.
Hupy and Abraham, S.C. is proud to consistently support the association’s actions to promote fair treatment of our nation’s citizens, reform of our city’s communities, and, importantly, defending against attacks on civil rights. Hupy and Abraham, S.C. traces its roots to the respected community legislator, attorney, activist, leader, and NAACP member, Lloyd Barbee. The late Attorney Barbee was well-known for his efforts to integrate the Milwaukee school system, to promote gender quality, and to reform both prisons and courts. Attorney Michael Hupy and Hupy and Abraham, S.C. have been recognized for their continued efforts to provide assistance to families in distress, aid to rising students, and other contributions to the community – efforts that continue to build upon the foundation laid by Attorney Barbee. This year’s award to the NAACP is only one example of this continued work by both the firm and by Attorney Michael Hupy.
Attorney Hupy spoke about his commitment to put the interest of the public before the interest of his law firm. He stressed the importance of taking bold action, just as Attorney Barbee did, even in the face of retaliation.
