I am a dialysis patient in Gurnee and used the product GranuFlo. I recently discovered that this product may cause heart arrhythmia. What does this mean about my health?

As you may know, the products GranuFlo and Naturalyte have recently been linked to serious medical complications. Many of those who have taken these dialysis products have experienced not only heart arrhythmia, but also heart attack, stroke, and metabolic alkalosis as well.

Fortunately, the federal Food and Drug Administration has now acted to remove both of these products from the market. Unfortunately, that move comes too late for some patients who are dealing with monstrous side effects.

Many patients who have used these products have developed hearth arrhythmias. It is interesting to note that many times a patient will not know they have developed a heart arrhythmia until a physician actually discovers it.

Cardiac arrhythmia is a major irregularity in heartbeats. A heart arrhythmia can cause serious problems that may cause the victim to die. Two serious problems that a heart arrhythmia can lead to are:

  • Stroke. A heart arrhythmia causes the heart to quiver. This makes the heart unable to pump blood effectively, which can cause blood to pool. The pooling of blood can lead to blood clots to form. This can become a serious issue if a clot breaks loose. Once loose the clot can travel to and obstruct a brain artery, resulting in a stroke.

  • Heart failure. Heart failure can come as a result of the heart pumping ineffectively for a prolonged period due to a bradycardia or tachycardia—heart rhythms that are too slow or too fast. Sometimes the heart’s function can be improved by controlling the rate of an arrhythmia, but that’s not always possible.

Suffering from a serious condition after using a product designed for dialysis can be frightening. It is important for you to know that legal actions can be taken.
