Did the pharmaceutical company that made Actos know that it was dangerous when I used it to treat my diabetes? Should I contact an Illinois pharmaceutical class action lawyer if I’ve developed bladder cancer while taking Actos?

Our Illinois pharmaceutical class action attorneys certainly welcome your call if you have developed bladder cancer while taking Actos or shortly after taking the drug. While we can’t tell you for sure what specific people at Takeda—the company that manufactures Actos—knew when, we can tell what the plaintiff’s attorney argued to a jury in a recent Actos case.

In April 2013, a plaintiff’s attorney argued that Takeda knew of the potential link between Actos and bladder cancer as early as 2004 and failed to alert the FDA until 2011. During trial the plaintiff’s attorney produced an email from a Takeda executive saying, “Actos is the most important product for Takeda and therefore we need to manage this issue very carefully and successfully not to cause any damage for this product globally.” The plaintiff’s attorney also submitted other evidence as he argued that Takeda failed to disclose the risks of Actos to his client. As of April 24, 2013 a verdict had not been reached in this case.

Our Illinois Actos lawyers encourage anyone who has been hurt by this drug to contact us for a free and confidential consultation about their legal rights and possible recovery. We welcome your inquiry via this website or by calling 800-800-5678 and we wish you the best in your recovery.
