Just north of downtown Milwaukee on August 4, 1998, a college student sustained serious and permanent injuries to the muscular and nerve structures in his neck and back when another individual failed to stop for a red light at an intersection.

With nearly $35,000 of incurred medical expenses and pain that would persist for the remaining 50 years of our client’s expected lifespan, Attorney Timothy W. Schelwat of Hupy and Abraham in Milwaukee insisted that the insurance company for the at-fault driver pay its policy limits of $100,000 to settle the claim. The insurer refused to do so and made its "top dollar" offer at $45,000.

Upon conclusion of a trial held in the matter, the jury rendered a verdict in which they found the defendant-driver 100 percent at fault for the collision and awarded our client a total of $149,000 in past and future damages.
