On April 11, 2014, a 20-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident at the Five Dock Hotel in Illinois. Siaki Mafoa, father of two and engaged to be married, is believed to have been hit by a west-bound coupe utility vehicle or small pickup truck.

The accident occurred around 7:45 pm on Parramatta Road. Police believe the driver would obviously have been aware of the accident and are asking the driver to turn him or herself in.

After Mafoa was hit, a female driver stopped and helped him into her car. She attempted to drive him to the hospital before flagging down a nearby ambulance. Shortly thereafter, Mafoa died in the ambulance from cardiac arrest.

Although devastated by their loss, the family said they are willing to forgive the driver as long as the driver comes forward and admits they hit Mafoa.
