Check out the new Bagger by BMW

A lot of changes have been happening in the motorcycle world. Vintage is in, the African Twin is back, Harley has an electric bike, and now BMW has a bagger.

When Motorrad released the “Concept 101” in spring 2015, the question on everyone’s mind was of production timing. Since then BMW press releases have been reliably clipping along, debuting the  (Concept 101-inspired)  K 1600 Bin October of last year, and most recently announcing the 2018 K 1600’s U.S. price as a manageable $19,995.

Built on the same platform as BMW’s 6-cylinder touring K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL models, the K 1600 B comes with the technological perks one might expect from Motorrad. That includes three standard riding modes (Rain, Road and Dynamic), dynamic traction control and dynamic electronic suspension adjustment with “Road” and “Cruise” dampening modes, corner-optimized integral ABS Pro, heated seats and hand grips, power adjustable windshield and cruise control.

As with all BMWs, package options can be added to the K 1600 B. The Safety, Comfort and Touring packages offer features like hill start control, LED auxiliary lights, reverse assist and tire pressure monitor. K 1600 B was reportedly created with American riders and “open American roads” in mind. “Blackstorm metal” paint, a new rear frame to lower the back half and redesigned features help to create a streamlined and low-slung bagger look.

Although the K 1600 B recently debuted at Daytona’s Bike Week, an official production launch date has yet to be announced. Check in regularly to stay up to date on BMW, and all motorcycle news! You can also order your FREE “Watch For Motorcycles” sticker in BMW blue here.
