In light of the recent incidents of violence in Milwaukee, support for our community is in greater demand than ever before. It is well documented that violence is more likely to erupt in communities that are mired in a cycle of poverty, crime and lack of education – and Milwaukee is no exception. A comprehensive approach to reduce these inequalities can make a real difference.

At Hupy and Abraham we believe in doing well by doing good – and that goes beyond the courtroom.

We do “good” by championing an end to violence, and supporting people and organizations that are not only charitable, but actively provide solutions to the issues that affect Milwaukee the most.

COA Youth & Family Centers, for example, helps Milwaukee children, teens and families by facilitating educational, recreational and social work programs via their local community centers. In the past, Hupy and Abraham has supported COA’s Skyline Music Series, as well as its annual Parents of the Year Luncheon, and will continue to participate in their efforts to make Milwaukee a community that values diversity and promotes positive social interaction.

Whether it’s educating the public on issues of safety, or providing a path to education for those that need it, Hupy and Abraham believes that education is the key to lifting up our community. Malaika Early Learning Center, a choice school offering a nurturing and educational environment for children to help end the cycle of poverty, as well as St. Marcus Lutheran School are actively working to provide a quality education for the children in Milwaukee who need it most. We are proud to support these educators and urge others to as well.

When gun violence has affected Milwaukee, Attorney Michael Hupy has made it his mission to seek justice for the most vulnerable members of our community who have suffered as a result of the violence. After the fatal shooting of 9-year-old Za'layia Jenkins earlier this summer, Attorney Hupy offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved. This came after Attorney Hupy offered substantial rewards for information regarding the shooting of 10-year-old Alfredo Bautista in August 2015 and the fatal shooting of 5-year-old Laylah Petersen in 2014.

Making Milwaukee a better place for our children to live, learn and grow is what it will take to restore dignity to our community. Over the last three years, Hupy and Abraham has donated more than $500,000 to more than 250 worthwhile community organizations that seek to do just that.
