Employees from Hupy and Abraham’s Des Moines, Iowa office recently spent their Saturday volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Central Iowa. The special event took place on November 8, 2025, at the BBBS office located at 2130 Grand Avenue in Des Moines and was designed specifically for children currently on the organization’s waitlist.

Sadly, there are hundreds of children still waiting to be matched with mentors. To help brighten their weekend, employees from Hupy and Abraham spent several hours connecting with the kids through fun, hands-on activities. Together, they played board games and Bingo, decorated pumpkins with stickers, made paper airplanes, and enjoyed video games. The group also created paper turkey boxes, filling them with popsicle sticks listing what they were most thankful for—friends, family, health, and more. The firm also provided a wide assortment of snacks for the children to enjoy throughout the day.

Each year, Hupy and Abraham employees select a charitable organization to support. For 2025, they chose Big Brothers Big Sisters—an organization the firm has proudly supported for many years through both monetary donations and active community involvement.

Over time, the firm has participated in hallmark BBBS initiatives such as Bowl for Kids’ Sake and other community celebrations, while also contributing directly to local chapters. This year alone, employees personally donated more than $15,000 to support the BBBS mission.

In addition to financial contributions, employees have volunteered countless hours across BBBS chapters in all three states where the firm practices—assisting with fundraising events, supply drives, youth outings, and galas.

As Big Brothers Big Sisters continues as the employee-chosen charity for 2025, Hupy and Abraham remains dedicated to this partnership—promoting youth mentoring, fostering employee engagement, and making a lasting impact on the community and beyond.
