Heart in a Handbag Luncheon

On Tuesday, April 23, 2013, personal injury attorneys Hupy and Abraham sponsored the “Heart in a Handbag Luncheon” to benefit Lissy’s Place, a charity run by My Home, Your Home Inc. that provides a nurturing home environment for abused, homeless women.

More than 300 people attended the event at the Italian Community Center in downtown Milwaukee.  Ten employees of Hupy and Abraham represented the firm, including attorneys Todd Korb, Evan Claditis, and Tom Perlberg.

Lissy’s Place currently serves as a haven for seventeen young women who are at great risk of exploitation and homelessness. They provide food, clothing, transportation and emotional support to help struggling women rebuild their lives. Government aid covers only half of the $365,000 per year that Lissy’s Place needs to provide its services. Sponsors like Hupy and Abraham make it possible for them continue their honorable work.

During the luncheon, one current and former program participant shared her story with the crowd before sharing an emotional hug at the end of her speech. My Home, Your Home CEO Connie Palmer and WTMJ News Radio personality Gene Mueller also explained how Lissy’s Place works tirelessly to fulfill their mission of “bringing families hope, one individual at a time.”

After the event, we received the following note;

Dear Hupy and Abraham,

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff here at My Home, Your Home Inc., we appreciate your kindness and willingness to help us provide the services that affect the lives of the young women who live at Lissy's Place. We thank you for your donation and for attending our 4th annual luncheon, "Heart in a Handbag", on April 23, 2013.

The Mission Statement at Lissy's Place is "to provide a safe nurturing home environment to homeless women ages 17.5-29 that promotes a healthy self-awareness and assistance in developing independent living skills enhancing their career development, and achieving self-sufficiency". Your gift will also help provide Lissy's Place women with meals, transitional housing, counseling, financial independence/management, health care and assistance with many other issues.

Thank you for helping us to continue, "Bringing families hope, one individual at a time".

Sincerely ~
