Hupy and Abraham team at Feeding America Event

May 23, 2019, had Milwaukee celebrating local superheroes in the fight against hunger. Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin held its annual Grateful Plate Gala at the Marcus Performing Arts Center. Supporters of the organization were able to bid and participate on silent auction items before the event’s main program. Hupy and Abraham, S.C. was a sponsor of the event.

“Honoring Everyday Heroes” was Grateful Plate’s theme, as an homage to those that strive to solve hunger on a daily basis: from providing food to their friends and family, to donating to strangers. The keynote speech was delivered by Alex Hart-Upendo from Build-A-Bow, a custom bow-tie, hair bow and pet bow retailer. The 12-year-old founder and CEO shared how he was personally able to benefit from Feeding America as a participant. As a young entrepreneur, he has already donated over $30,000 in charity and is continuing his philanthropic efforts using several other methods. Following the keynote was a live auction and a donation period. Proceeds from the evening went toward the organization’s ongoing efforts to hunger relief.

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading hunger-relief network in Wisconsin with food banks in the Fox Valley and Milwaukee, allowing them to help nearly 400,000 people each year. The organization also strives to address the deeper causes of hunger and tries to create solutions that will lead to its eradication.

For decades, Hupy and Abraham, S.C. has worked toward helping those in need.  Every year, the firm helps construct food baskets for families during the holidays feeding thousands. For several years, Hupy and Abraham employees spend their own time volunteering at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
