Motorcycle rider travels on a wooded road during the fall season.

Even though the weather is getting colder and there are less and less bikes on the road, many motorcycle riders still enjoy taking rides in the fall. With the beautiful colors of the changing leaves in Wisconsin, it can be exhilarating to hop on your bike and take a nice scenic ride. Wisconsin is home to many routes that make amazing fall rides. Whether you’re near Milwaukee, Madison, Appleton, Green Bay or Wausau, here are a few you’ll want to check out.

  1. Ride Throughout Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive

This may be the best drive in Wisconsin for viewing the fall colors, which peak toward the end of October. Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive winds through the 50,000 acres of the Kettle Moraine State Forest, along 115 miles of road. The state forest is split into two units, with the southern unit being near Whitewater, Wisconsin, and the northern unit being near West Bend. The road can be challenging on your motorcycle, with many twists and turns, but that just adds to the thrill of the ride. There will be plenty of spots to stop for sightseeing and hiking for you to stretch your legs along the way.

  1. Check Out the Views of the Mississippi River on the Great River Road

This route travels along the mighty Mississippi River on the western side of Wisconsin. Going through towns like La Crosse, Prairie du Chein and Tempealeau along the river, you’ll find many spots to explore small towns, climb steep bluffs where you can watch for eagles and even tour various local breweries and shops. Though this is a gorgeous motorcycle ride to take in any season, it’s especially beautiful in the fall.

  1. Travel Along Highway 8 and Highway 141 in Marinette County

This ride will take you through the heavily wooded areas of Northern Wisconsin. Traveling through the small towns of Crivitz and Pembine, you’ll see thick forests of changing fall colors. This route has many amazing parks to stop by including Governor Thompson State Park, Dave’s Falls County Park and the Dunbar Barrens State Natural Area. Along this drive, you can stop to see numerous waterfalls that add to the beautiful scenery.

  1. See the Beautiful Sights in in Door County

You could ride up the bay side of the Door County peninsula taking Highway 42 or the lake side of the peninsula taking Highway 57, either route will be great. With the amazing scenery of Lake Michigan, the vivid fall colors and many wineries and restaurants to stop at, this ride is great for a day trip or weekend getaway on your motorcycle.
