Hupy and Abraham's client was riding his motorcycle on a pleasant summer day when a truck suddenly turned right from the left lane and collided into him. The client suffered serious wrist and foot injuries.

The insurer for the trucking company originally denied the claim, arguing that the roadway was only lined for one lane of travel and that our client should not have been riding where he was. Attorney Timothy Schelwat filed a lawsuit, knowing that Wisconsin law permits vehicles to travel side-by-side on roadways that are wide enough to accommodate it, regardless of whether there are separate lanes. After extensive discovery, the case was mediated and the insurance company paid $270,000 for the injuries caused by the truck driver.
