The 2011 Volvo Trucks Safety Award was presented at the American Trucking Association's Management Conference and Exhibition in Grapevine, TX. The winner in the over 20 million mile category was Roehl Transport, of Marshfield, WI. A family-owned trucking company with approximately 1,800 trucks, Roehl achieved an accident frequency rate of 0.295 driving 172,600,000 miles in 2010.

Ron Huibers, Volvo Trucks senior vice president of sales & marketing declared: "Roehl Transport demonstrated a deep commitment to safety throughout every layer of their organization, and their efforts truly make a difference."

At Roehl Transport, all employees, even non-drivers, are trained in a special program called The Roehl Way of Driving, which emphasizes all the possible ways to avoid truck accidents and make the road safer, not just for truck drivers, but also for all motorists sharing the road with them.

For Rick Roehl, president, Volvo has always been a great partner, sharing their views on safety. Roehl Transport has pursued the award and is very proud to have earned Volvo Trucks' recognition, he added.

Another award, in the under 20 million miles category, was given to Stagecoach Cartage and Distribution, of El Paso, TX, operating 162 trucks with a 0.122 accident frequency rate covering 16,300,000 miles in 2010.
