A two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County at 5:35 o’clock in the evening on Sunday, February 20, resulted in the death of two people, leaving two more seriously injured.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred in Ixonia on Wisconsin 16 at North Street. Ixonia is a community in northeast Jefferson County, and is the halfway point between Watertown and Oconomowoc.

The victims were in a 2010 Buick sedan that failed to yield while pulling out from North Street onto Wisconsin 16, and was subsequently sideswiped by a Dodge pickup truck. A man was declared dead immediately, and a woman was transported to Oconomowoc Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The man and woman who were injured were transported by Flight for Life and Med Flight helicopters to Milwaukee’s Froedtert Hospital, where they are currently in serious condition. The names of the victims haven’t been released, but were from the Hartford and West Bend area, according to police.

The driver of the pickup truck is named Gavin Strey, an Ixonia resident, who has already been treated and discharged from Oconomowoc Hospital.

Alcohol and speeding don’t seem to have contributed to the crash, according to Jefferson County police, and all but one person in the Buick was wearing their seat belt at the time of the collison. Authorities continue to investigate the details of the crash.

The car accident attorneys of Hupy and Abraham offer their sympathies to the families of those killed, and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured parties.
