While much of the country has motorcycles in storage mode, battery tenders in place, stabilizer in gas tanks, etc., it's a good time to remember to conduct pre-ride safety inspections before heading out again in the spring.

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) has created a check-list for inspecting your motorcycle known as T-CLOC.  The letters stand for Tires, Controls, Lights, Oil, and  Chassis. You can find a video explaining the checklist here.

The MSF suggests you conduct a check of your motorcycle before every ride to lessen the chance of injury or costly repairs. Every student who takes an MSF Basic Rider Course recieves a copy of the check list in the Rider Course Handbook. You can also get a Pdf copy of the check list here.

Tires are of special importance and knowing the proper care and what to check for tire safety is essential to safe cycling.  Remember to check your bike out before going for that next ride.  Safety is everybody's business.

The MSF is a not-for-profit organization sponsored by BMW, BRP, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Piaggio, Polaris Motorcycles, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha. For safety information or to enroll in the RiderCourse nearest you, visit msf-usa.org or call (800) 446-9227.
