The personal injury law firm of Hupy and Abraham continues its tradition of supporting worthy nonprofit organizations such as Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin by sponsoring their Seventh Annual Grateful Plate fundraiser.

Grateful Plate 2013, which took place June 12 at the historic Wisconsin Club, featured a silent and live auction, musical entertainment by The Bill Sargent Band and dinner.  Notable auction items donated to raise funds for the needy included Packer tickets, a trip to Cancun and a chance to ride Bernie Brewer’s Slide.

99.1 The Mix radio personality Van “The Man” McNeil served as the emcee for the event and Bonnie Bellehumeur, President of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, addressed the crowd of over 250 people to explain the ways their organization is making a difference.

With the help of supporters like Hupy and Abraham, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin can turn one dollar into five meals, which is crucial because demand has increased 35% in the past year. Through warehouses in Milwaukee and Fox Valley, Feeding America distributes more than 18 million pounds of food annually and is on pace to collect 19 million pounds of food this year. Ten percent of their distributed food goes to senior citizens in need and each year they reach over 105,000 children.

The vast array of donated auction items and generous sponsors made Grateful Plate 2013, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s signature fundraising event, a resounding success ensuring that they will be able to feed 330,000 people who rely on Feeding America for food each year.
