On the evening of March 30, 2014, a 58-year-old Milwaukee man with a suspended driver’s license hit and killed 8-year-old Jacari Maxwell while traveling north on 12th Street near Keefe Avenue. The driver was subsequently arrested and may be charged.

Authorities say the man was driving a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica and the boy ran between two parked cars into the street before being hit. The driver cooperated with authorities, but the child died at the scene.

The Milwaukee County district attorney’s office will review the incident over the next few days to determine whether charges will be filed.

As the weather warms up, there will be more pedestrians, including children, on the road making it even more important for drivers to yield to pedestrians. Hupy and Abraham is distributing free “Yield To Pedestrians” stickers to raise awareness and ultimately save lives.
