Bill To End Discrimination Against Bikers Passes U.S. Senate

Posted on Aug 27, 2009

November 21, 2004

Word comes to us from the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) that a bill to close the current health insurance discriminatory loophole has passed the United States Senate. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) authored S.423 Health Care Parity for Legal Transportation.

The very last bill to pass before the Senate adjourned on Sunday, November 21, 2004, this legislation will prohibit the denial of benefits otherwise provided under the plan or coverage for the treatment of an injury solely because such injury resulted from the participation in a legal mode of transportation or a legal recreational activity.

Although a huge victory for bikers, the bill still has to pass the House of Representatives. The MRF is urging everyone to call their member of the U.S. House and urge them to support S.423
