Biker Injured in Grafton, IL After Colliding With Golf Cart on Highway

A man driving a golf cart down an Illinois highway has been charged after he caused an accident with a motorcycle on Route 3 outside Grafton, IL.

According to police reports the man, Ronald E. Hinote, of Grafton, was traveling westbound on Route 3 in his golf cart. Upon approaching Sycamore Street he turned left, allegedly pulling in front of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Joseph Haufe Jr. of Alton.

The motorcycle hit the driver's side of the cart, went down on its side, slipped across the eastbound lane, hit a ditch and was thrown into the air. Haufe was thrown from the bike and landed near the motorcycle when it came to a rest.

Haufe was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was taken to Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. Directly after the accident his injuries were listed at serious. No current information on Haufe's condition has been released by the hospital.

The driver of the golf cart was uninjured in the accident and has been charged with improper use of a golf cart on a highway.
